Andile Maphumulo is a visual artist who uses acrylic paint as a medium to expressing his ideas. His work is depicts varying scenes in side various rooms and homes of the majority of South African black communities.
He believes objects and materials one chose to live with in daily life speaks volumes about who we are and our progression in society. Maphumulo was born in Emfume (South coast,KwaZulu-Natal). Andile started taking Velobala art classes hosted by the African Art Center at the Durban University of Technology(DUT) in 2015.
Maphumulo is a member of Amasosha Art movement which is a collective of young Durban artists who work together to share, teach and uplift one another. Maphumulo obtained Merit Award at the KZNSA Gallery in 2016.
He has participated in numerous groups exhibitions with the most recent being in 2017, Inyathuko at Ikomkhulu art space and an Amasosha Group exhibition at the Essence Festival.
